Ο Raimi δεν γύρισε απλώς μια ταινία τρόμου· έφτιαξε ένα κινηματογραφικό κόμικ. Κάθε σκηνή είναι γεμάτη ενέργεια, γωνίες που παραμορφώνουν την πραγματικότητα, και μια ατμόσφαιρα που φωνάζει “σκοτεινή απόλαυση”.
Η παραγωγή γυρίστηκε σχεδόν ολόκληρη σε ένα σκηνικό στο Βόρειο Καρολίνα, υπό ακραίες συνθήκες, με λάσπη, ψύχος και… πραγματικά ουρλιαχτά.
